Subject: St. Patrick’s Day books available at the Altamont Public Library
Each year we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on
March 17. This festive holiday has everyone wearing green and talking about
four leaf clovers, shamrocks, leprechauns, and kissing the blarney stone. We
eat corned beef and cabbage. But do we know why?
Visit the Altamont Public Library and take
advantage of the number of books that explain these strange traditions. Beth
Speers, Librarian, recommends the following books for children: Patrick: Patron
Saint of Ireland by Tomie dePaola, The St. Patrick’s Day Shillelagh by Janet
Nolan, The Luckiest Leprechaun by Justine Korman, and A Fine St. Patrick’s Day
by Susan Wojciechowski. Other books on St. Patrick’s Day and Ireland are
available at the library.
To help your child or grandchild research the
traditions of the holiday, read some of these interesting and entertaining
storybooks available. Remember, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day!
