Subject: February 2007 Altamont Public Library Board of Directors meeting
The Altamont Public Library Board recently met on February 12, 2007. On the agenda was the status of building maintenance and repair, and summer reading program.
The list of bills to be paid for February was presented. These bills included charges for books, utilities, building maintenance, pest control, and library supplies.
Beth Speers, Librarian, gave a brief overview of the January’s circulation figures, which included our service of interlibrary loans. In January, there was a total of 190 books and items borrowed, and 290 loaned through the Shawnee Library System interlibrary loan program. Through January, there was a total of 917 library cards being used, with 15 new resident cards and 4 new non-resident cards. Over 1,200 people used the library during January and over 1,500 items were checked out. The library hosted a tour for Head Start students on February 7 with 20 children attending. Health and Wellness material from a recent grant has begun arriving. More information will be forthcoming.
Tile selection was voted on at the February meeting. Mason’s Masonry Restoration will order tiles, and work should begin once they arrive.
Possible new board member names were submitted and discussed. If you are interested on serving a three year term on the Altamont Public Library Board of Directors, please let the library staff know of your interest. Further discussion will occur at the March meeting.
The 2007 Summer Reading Program was discussed. Library staff will attend a planning meeting in Mt. Vernon in March, and the annual program ideas were discussed. Budget restraints limit activities for the annual Summer Reading Program, and any donations from the community would be very appreciated.
