Subject: Altamont Public Library features a health presentation for children and
their parents
The Altamont Public Library is presenting a
free program for area families. On Saturday, June 23, Dr. Robb Frost will
present the program “Blast Off to Good Health – A Program for Children and Their
Parents” at 1:00 p.m. at the Library. Dr. Frost will be discussing children’s
nutrition, safety, and general health and wellness. There will be time for
questions and answers at the end of the presentation. Prize drawings and snacks
will be available.
This
program, the second of three, is possible due to a grant through the Illinois
State Library. The Altamont Public Library was awarded the grant, Bridging the
Gap Between Collection and Community, through a grant request written by Beth
Speers, Librarian. The grant - “Information for a Healthier Altamont” – awarded
the library $3,000 for updated health and wellness materials for all ages.
According to Mrs. Speers, “Many of the new materials are available for checkout
at the time of this program. We are proud to sponsor Dr. Frost’s presentation
to help increase awareness of children’s health and safety issues.”
