Subject: 2008 Summer
Reading Program Ends
The Altamont Public Library
recently offered their summer reading program to area children ages 3 through
12th grade. There were 120 area children in the program, and 110 children
finished, according to Beth Speers, Librarian.
This year’s summer reading
program, “Get In The Game, READ”, was all about activities. Sports, games,
inside and outside activities for children. “A generous donation from the
Altamont Junior Women’s Club provided additional children’s reading material on
sports and activity topics to be purchased.” according to Beth Speers,
Librarian. “We were able to increase our reading material on these topics, as
well as provide a variety of activity material for children to use. Support
from area organizations allowed us to again provide the Summer Reading Program.
Local merchants also donated attendance prizes. Without these organizations, we
could not provide any incentives during the Summer Reading Program.”
At the end of the Summer
Reading Program, reading participants were eligible for prize bags, donated by
the following local merchants.
Altamont Junior Women’s
Club and the Cuddly Bunny Contest

S & W Supermarket
