Subject: February 2008 Altamont Public Library Board of Directors meeting
The Altamont Public
Library Board recently met on February 11, 2008. On the agenda was the status of
copier replacement, equipment replacement, Library State Grants, and final 100th
Anniversary Open House details.
The list of bills to
be paid for February was presented. These bills included charges for books,
utilities, basic library supplies, and internet filter.
Beth Speers,
Librarian, gave a brief overview of the January’s circulation figures, which
included our service of interlibrary loans. In January, there were a total of
175 books and items borrowed, and 243 loaned through the Shawnee Library System
interlibrary loan program. Almost 1,200 people used the library during January
and over 1,400 items were checked out. Over 980 resident and non-resident
library cards are currently active.
The library has
purchased a new copier, which is set up and available for patron usage. The new
copier was purchased with funds from donations to the library.
The 2009 Illinois Library Grants have been
reviewed and Mrs. Speers will be investigating the possibility of acquiring a
grant for Digital Imaging to get a microfiche printer.
Discussion was held on events to celebrate the
100th Anniversary of the Altamont Public Library in 2008. The
Library’s Open House to celebrate it’s 100th Anniversary has been
scheduled for March 29, 2008 from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. The public is encouraged to
attend the Open House and celebrate it’s long history and vision into the
future.
