March 29, 2008
The Altamont Public
Library is hosting an Open House on March 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate
the 100th Anniversary of the library. Refreshments will be served,
and staff members will be available to answer questions and demonstrate all the
services of the library. Patty Winn will be portraying Mrs. Mabel Jewell, the
Altamont resident who was responsible for the formation of the library in 1908.
The recent library essay winners will also be present to accept their prizes.
“The Altamont Public
Library plays a key role in offering it’s patrons access to the world of
information,” said Beth Speers, Librarian. “Our library services have evolved
as technology has changed, in the past, the present, and into the future. We
invite not only our loyal patrons, but any member of the community who is
interested in seeing what the library has to offer.”
The library staff and
board would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Altamont community
for it’s long-standing support of the library, and welcomes the opportunity to
discuss any ideas on future growth.
